I was
first introduced to throwing pots in high school under the instruction of Daniel
O'Brien. I fell in love immediately. I continued my education in
ceramics through college at the University of South Carolina, although my major
was history. When I wasn't in class or pretending to study, I was in the
studio doing what I love. My work throughout college was largely fired in
a soda kiln which I greatly miss. There is definitely something special about
atmospheric firing, and I will build a soda kiln of my own one day.
After graduation, I moved back to Charleston and set up my tiny
studio in my one car garage and began making pots in my free time. I hope
to be able to make the move to full-time potter in the coming years and be able
to do what I truly love for a living.
