Handmade Stoneware Pottery for the Home

There is something about working in clay—it is so tactile, so open, so free.  It gives the maker the ability to create something that will last lifetimes; something that can be both cherished and used in daily life.  I choose to create functional pieces that give the user the ability to have something both beautiful and useful.  My desire is that my work will become a part of someone's daily life—used and loved.

I create my pieces from stoneware clay, largely on the potter's wheel.  I fire in an electric kiln to cone six creating work that is durable and safe for use with food.

I make functional pottery because I believe that creating something useful is both the height of art and craft.  In my work, I attempt not to differentiate between the two, but make pieces that are both artful and useful.  My style is what many would consider 'tight' in that I make forms that are smooth and graceful, but are also controlled and sharp.  I desire cohesion in my line of work, and greatly enjoy creating repetitive forms.  I still see value in making 'one of a kind' pieces that can be collected and treasured, and I love special projects.

My work is still developing, and I am always looking for new forms to add to my repertoire.

Thank you for your interest in my work!
